Repair your old pump, or replace it for $899?

When a single speed pump starts humming, leaking or tripping the power, a repair usually means a call-out fee plus parts and labour. Call-out fees alone commonly run around $80 to $150 in NSW. And once it's fixed, you still own the most expensive pump to run.

PowerA 1.5HP pump running 7 hours a day uses about 2,800 kWh a year. At 32c a kWh that's around $900 of power, every year.Typically $500 to $1,100 a year less, depending on your pool size
NoiseAs loud as it always wasLow speed most of the day, much quieter
WarrantyUsually on the part replaced onlyMinimum 3 years on the pump

For most single speed pumps that are on the way out, replacing is the better buy. At the typical saving, the $899 often pays for itself within one to two years. Work out your own numbers with the calculator below.

Why is it only $899 when installers quote $1,500 to $2,500?

A variable speed pump supplied and installed usually costs $1,500 to $2,500, and the pump on its own sells online for around $990 to $1,900. Our price is lower because the NSW rebate is taken off before you pay.

How the NSW pool pump rebate works

The rebate comes from the NSW Government's Energy Savings Scheme, which pays for energy saving upgrades in NSW homes. Swapping an old pool pump for an efficient variable speed pump qualifies. You don't apply for anything and there's no form to fill in: the rebate comes off your price, and $899 is what you pay.

To claim it, the scheme needs proof the pump went in at your address. That's why, before we book your install, we ask for three photos of your current pump and a recent power bill. We only use the meter number and the address on the bill.

We are not a government agency. Eligibility is confirmed before installation.

Extra council pool pump rebates in Randwick and Ku-ring-gai

Two Sydney councils pay their own rebate on an efficient pool pump, on top of the NSW rebate in our price. Councils run these themselves, so you lodge the claim. We give you the invoice, photos and paperwork they ask for.

Randwick City Council: 50% back, up to $250

For pool pumps installed by a licensed professional in the Randwick area in the last 12 months. The council has confirmed a 6 star minimum energy rating, which the pump we're installing now meets. See Randwick Council's sustainability rebates.

Ku-ring-gai Council: $250

For replacing a single speed pump with a variable speed pump of at least 6 stars, bought after 1 July 2026. Apply to the council for pre-approval before your install. See Ku-ring-gai Council's sustainability rebates.

Council rebates can change or close. Check the council's page before you go ahead.

Questions people ask

Is $899 really the full price?

Yes. $899 includes the pump, installation by a licensed installer, programming for your pool and filter, and taking your old pump away. The NSW rebate is already taken off and GST is included. Your written quote confirms it before anything is booked.

Is this the NSW Government pool pump rebate?

The rebate in our price comes from the NSW Government's Energy Savings Scheme. You don't apply for it: it comes off your price. We are not a government agency.

How quickly can you install?

Within 7 business days of accepting your quote in our Sydney, Central Coast, Newcastle and South Coast areas. If your pump has stopped, tell us on the form and we'll do our best to get you in sooner.

Why do you need photos and a power bill?

The photos let us check the new pump suits your setup, so there are no surprises on the day. The power bill is for the NSW rebate, which has to match the meter number on your bill to the install address. You can send both from your phone.

What size pump do I need?

You don't need to work it out. We install the same 2.0HP variable speed pump on every job and program its speeds to suit your pool and filter. Because it's variable speed, it runs at low speed most of the day, so the bigger motor doesn't mean a bigger power bill.

How long do pool pumps last?

Most single speed pumps last around 8 to 10 years. Humming without starting, tripping the power, leaking or loud bearings usually mean it's near the end.

Can I get a council rebate as well?

If you live in Randwick or Ku-ring-gai, yes. You claim it from your council and we give you the paperwork. Ku-ring-gai asks for pre-approval before the install.

What warranty do I get?

At least 3 years on the pump. The pump we're installing now carries a 5 year manufacturer warranty.

Prices include GST. $899 applies to standard installs in our Sydney, Central Coast, Newcastle, Hunter and South Coast (Wollongong to Jervis Bay) areas, and $1,049 elsewhere in NSW. The NSW rebate depends on eligibility under the Energy Savings Scheme, confirmed before installation. Savings are estimates.
