Who Qualifies for the Rebate

Warehouses and industrial facilities need to meet some basic criteria to be eligible for the LED lighting rebate, but more distribution and storage premises in South Australia will be eligible. All you need is an ABN to show you’re operating as a business, and that your current lighting is inefficient. The aim of the scheme is primarily to swap out inefficient lighting, such as metal halide high bay lamps and fluorescents, and we have a complete range of LED alternatives suitable for warehouses. With high lumens and wide beams to completely light a space, we’ll make your warehouse safer and more energy efficient.

High Bay and Floodlights

Warehouses have unique lighting requirements compared to other types of commercial space, but rest assured that we can swap out your lighting like-for-like with free LEDs. This includes lights fixed to high ceilings over 6m, which include high bay lights and floodlights. We will aim to fit similar lights with different lumen levels to create the perfect lighting in your space whether it’s low-ceiling areas, in the main packing area, or at loading docks.

400W High Bay LED Replacement: What We Fit

Most South Australian warehouses, factories and sheds still run 400W metal halide or mercury vapour high bays, with 400W floodlights outside. We replace each one with a 70W LED fitting. An old 400W lamp draws about 450W once its control gear is counted, so every swap cuts the load by about 380W.

At 10 hours a day, 5 days a week and 30c per kWh, that is about $300 a year saved on every light. Twenty high bays save close to $6,000 a year.

$33 for the Whole Site, Not $33 a Light

The $33 is a single co-payment for the site. It is the same whether you have 4 high bays or 40, and it covers the floodlights too. There is no charge per high bay or per floodlight.

Very large energy users are the exception. Sites using more than 160 MWh of electricity a year pay a scheme minimum of $1.70 for each gigajoule saved, which we work out in your quote.

Farm Sheds, Workshops and Factories in South Australia

The scheme is not only for warehouses. Machinery sheds, shearing sheds, packing sheds, workshops and factories all qualify when they are part of a business and have old high bays or floodlights. A shed at home does not qualify.

Linear Batten and Downlights

When you need continuous light 24/7 in an area, such as along picking aisles, a linear batten positioned high above the shelving is ideal. They have a long lifespan and can give a cleaner, brighter lumen output for the workers below compared to traditional fluorescent bulbs. For offices and corridors with normal height ceilings, LED downlights are a great alternative and we can install them in a range of temperature colours to suit your needs.

Three Things to Know Before You Book

1. Leave the old lights where they are. The scheme requires them to be installed and working when we arrive, so do not replace them first.
2. A regular electrician cannot apply the incentive. It can only be claimed by a provider accredited under the scheme. Efficient Energy Group is accredited, and our licensed electricians do the install.
